Renewal application for EAD filed on July 30th for self and spouse. Checks have been cashed and got receipt number from the back of the checks.

Like many others on these forums, I have given up significant opportunities because I believed mistakenly that the GC mess would be cleared up in 2-3 years. Sometimes that does lead to extreme frustration - My wife often jokes that when I do actually receive my GC, I will have lost a very convenient excuse that the lack of one is holding me back. :-)
To those who are starting down this path, I have this piece of unsolicited advice. If you feel that you are depressed and this is affecting your health and/or your family, it may be best to move on - the world is a big place, full of opportunity; opportunities that cannot be quantified by an O*NET job code. I dont have a problem signing 1 yr agreement because my 140 will take at least another 8 months ( Feb 08) and by the time next years budget opens up for good new Jobs its already Mar 08.

As we get closer to election day it seems that Democrats will have control of the Congress. All the polls that have been and are being conducted show that the Democrats are leading the Republicans by double digits.
If Democrats win the CIR will get through but the there will be a huge backlog as there arent enough people at USCIS to do the work, which in a way is retrogession. There will be relief for people with advanced degrees but on paper only.As it will still take years for their paperwork to get through USCIS, others will be in a worse situation as the waiting line would be huge.
If Republicans win there will be no CIR as pointed out by others in the thread. However, SKIL might get through and that will help shorten the waiting period for people without advanced degrees.

Not sure which world you live in but check out numbersusa site and you will see how they are trying to decrease the immigration - legal or illegal alike.... So while Skill will go through Senate, it will be again blocked in house like it was in Dec2005........ So bottomline is that I would rather have some bill passed and have a hope in sight than no bill and never know if one will ever get GC

Guys inorder for DOS or DHS or USCIS to get the message they will FIRST and FOREMOST have to understand WHO Gandhi is. For that we will have to attach a few pages of documentation about Mahatma Gandhi. By the time the message gets to the correct person's hands AND he/she understands the true meaning of the message, the person will think we insulted them, coz the the flowers will be dead and dried up and STINKY.
Folks... the flowers are just one part of the campaign. The other part is where we notify every major news media about what we are trying to do (we will mail them on July 9th). That is where we let people know what we are trying to achieve. The flowers are a means to an end. Something to attract the media.
We hope that the media will cover this event since it is so unorthodox.

1) Since responses and postings of key members are sparse, they are working day and night on getting the immigration reforms through
2) If key members post on these forums, they will necessarily post half baked news which causes excitement.
Apparently you completely missed the point. I am asking core members to participate in discussion on these forums, not to put sensational headlines that excites people. Hope that helps.
IV is making efforts to prepare for the coming coming months. It involves but not limited to funding drive to sustain and grow efforts, membership drive to grow in size and have impact of numbers, generating awareness and building support via media articles. Speculating will not help much. Pls. do participate in these drives in order to build momentum for the coming months and we will all have better chances for any legislative change. We are all in this together and we all need to work hard to enable a change

I can read and feel the anger and frustration. But I have seen this every time a retrogressed visa bulletin was released in last ten years. Appeals for unity and and urgent need for action. However, it turned out to be a storm in a tea cup. Hope its gonna be different this time.

If I am lucky enough I can make upto 70-80years of my age maximum, considering my age now, I might live another 30-35yrs. Just imagine what life we want, I completely agree what points you mentioned below. But you are forgetting the insidents we read in news media every day. I almost find atleast one incident where people are killed just for money........what if our fate is not good, and we encounter such situation???
So there is are many factors that effect our life on both sides of the globe !
I just visited last month. I stayed there for 6 weeks...
Agree that economy is booking but....
(1) too much pollution.
(2) No infrastructure to handle cars and two wheeleers.
(3) too much mosquito even in winter/summer. I do not know what will happen in rainy days.
(4) prices for every item have gone up by 3X..Most of the item I am not able to justify the rise. The quality of the product has not gone up.
(5) easy to set up business..get house...get car but tough to drive peacefully...need to pray god every morning so that we come back home with 2 hands and 2 legs and unbroken body parts.
(6) Club culture is booming too...so if you have daughter who is teen then need to check by that angle too.
Just my two cents....

One of my friends was a plaintiff in the lawsuit that you mention. As you mention, USCIS quickly approved all cases. So didn't the plaintiffs won the case?
I hope our potential lawsuit will have a similar effect. We file a lawsuit saying we are discriminated based on country of birth. USCIS opposes the lawsuit, but quickly approves all our 485s. We both win in that situation.
I would be happy if EB2 India gets upto Dec04. Forget EB3. Also any lawsuit is only sustainable only if its properly funded, well represented and there is wide public support if you expect the class action status. Mr Rajiv Khanna filed a lawsuit for 485 backlogs and its class action status was denied by the judge which I personally think was a biased judge and later USCIS quickly approved 485s of plaintiffs making lawsuit moot.

Further to my following posting::: Just to share an Update. I got an LUD " on Jul 28 we ordered Card Production" for my EAD Renewal. Details of 1 yr or 2yrs are not known till we see the actual card.

Paper filed EAD for me and wife on June26..TSC RD -June30..CPO on Sep'02.
Looks like people whose RD is around last week of June'08 are getting EAD approved...Good luck.
